Re: Keep safe and healthy friends

I remembered today is the anniversary of Frodo destroying the Ring and decided to pop in here. Glad to see you well, Daisy Gold. The last few weeks have been surreal and stressful. So many family plans have been cancelled. For safety, of course, but 2020 was supposed to have been a good year with a ...

Who here published a book on Middle-earth?

(When I first wrote the title of the post I had "ME" for shorthand instead of the full name, and it sounded like I was asking who wrote about me, not M-E, like I was a paranoid celebrity, and I giggled for a good minute). Anyway - I thought someone here, who posted a lot on the boards, had published...

Re: Well, WE ARE BACK!

Yay! Thanks for putting up with tech support to keep us going. Should we put the link to the new url (it's so weird and long, lol) on a public post on the Dreamwidth? And maybe even the Scrapbook? I don't know where else people would go to find the boards since the link is different. Or may be Lunar...

New Year's Resolutions?

So does anyone have any goals or resolutions for this year that they'd like to share? My main goal is fitness - not just weight loss, but overall endurance and strength. I've not been consistent with exercise and I'd like to develop a routine. I'm stilling mulling over what exact goals to aim for, p...

Have there been any takers? Can we PayPal financial help?

And if the site is really going to go - can it be month by month? - where else do y'all hang out? The dreamwidth?

Re: Hunting for a new home for the Fellowship

Yeah, usually I just copy and paste every comment, or copy the whole page and paste into a big file, although that can be a bit wonky when viewing it later. Are there any settings here to change how many posts per page we can view? On other sites I've set the settings to the highest in order to keep...

Re: Hunting for a new home for the Fellowship

Do we have an idea how long these boards will be up? I might try to save some favorite threads/PMs before they close.

Re: Hunting for a new home for the Fellowship

I do like the format of a regular forum board. I know forums like Proboards and Zetaboards have free options but I don't know much about what it would take it run them. I have also used WordPress and Blogger a bit. I know with WordPress you can add tags to posts, so it would be easy to sort and sear...

Re: Week of 9/22 Celebration: marathon, read, discuss, daydr

When I finally got around to watching LotR, I opened my FotR DVD and realized that it had developed a crack! It wasn't in the DVD part itself, but around the donut hole. I still tried it in the DVD player and it worked, but I guess I'm gonna be buying a new copy. Some time ago I realized that I had ...

Stranded on desert island: one chapter, 5 minutes of film...

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island for the rest of your life, and you were allowed to take just ONE chapter of each LOTR/Middle-earth book, and just 5 minutes (or maybe 10 minutes) of each film (if you liked the films), WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE? (And for LOTR, I guess since there's re...

Re: Week of 9/22 Celebration: marathon, read, discuss, daydr

I was going to watch FotR+ this evening, after I got some work done, but we're having a heat wave and it's so hot in my room that the thought of turning on the TV to add even more heat makes me melt. I think I'll reschedule for tomorrow or Tuesday. I am eating the ice cream I bought as a marathon tr...

Week of 9/22 Celebration: marathon, read, discuss, daydream.

Get ready to dive into Middle-earth! When: Saturday, September 19 through oh, say, Sunday, September 27. Who: All of us. Any of us. The whole planet. Your neighbors. Hopefully at least someone. Spread the word. What: Marathon the films, marathon the books, daydream about living in Middle-Earth, sta...
