Wandering with Boromir
Hello! I've decided to move my thread from the other boards. Additions are still on the way.
Night Skies
Surveying the area, Boromir’s gaze wandered during the night’s watch. And consequently, so did his thoughts. He looked at the stars and was reminded of the glittering White City. He thought about his home and what his brother was up to. Maybe, he thought, Faramir was fighting in a battle, or possibly enjoying his time in Minas Tirith. Whatever was going on, Boromir was fascinated by the stars.
Stars, twinkling, bright above my head
Possessed, not able to look away,
They hold my gaze.
The night keeps my attention,
Bringing thoughts from the depths of my mind.
What thoughts may come to me, when searching the skies?
Our great quest has kept fear in my heart.
I see that all our struggles will come to an end,
But what end shall they meet?
We set out to destroy it, but will it be done?
Images stray, look to Gondor.
Home, this is strength, comfort,
Will it be brought here, where no damage awaits it?
Mordor brings harshness, pains shall not be avoided
But the White City, none shall possess it but the righteous.
Stars, shining, keep me thinking
Captivated, not able to look away.
Whirring ideas, captions, fragments
My mind is a blur, when will our pains cease . . .
When will our troubles be done?

Wandering with Boromir
Sorry for the wait, inspiration has been hard to find . Thanks for reading
So Small a Thing
While walking through the forests, Boromir considered the fate of the Fellowship. He thought Gandalf, such a strong wizard and wise at that, would surely last the journey. And Aragorn, destined to be the king of men, could not succumb to deadly harm. When he thought of the dwarf and the elf, he determined that they would also last on the quest. But then he remembered the little ones, the ones called hobbits. He knew that they possessed courage, strength, and intelligence, but the size of these travelers frightened Boromir.
How could so small a thing protect itself?
Hobbits were small in stature
But great in hidden wisdom
Sometimes not discovering their greatness
Till upmost need arose.
Frodo, ring-bearer and eldest,
Stood and chose the burden.
His strength shone through;
His determined mind gave energy,
Others felt this and could carry on.
But, how could so small a thing protect itself?
Sam, loyal servant to Frodo,
Looked after his master
Making Frodo’s health his main concern.
His trustworthy nature and courage
Earned him a name of Samwise the Brave
But, how could so small a thing protect itself?
Merry, reliable and sure,
Protected his cousins,
Proving his love by defending them.
By himself, his own courage appeared,
And showed true loyalty to his friends.
But, how could so small a thing protect itself?
Pippin, fearful yet determined,
Knew his duty and remained committed.
His inquisitive character brought him trouble.
When separated, he missed his cousins,
Wondering if they would be reunited.
But, how could so small a thing protect itself?
Hobbits were small in stature
But great in hidden wisdom
Sometimes not discovering their greatness
Till upmost need arose.
Sometimes, the smallest of things can surprise you.

Re: Wandering with Boromir
I think the Hobbits had outdone theirself on the quest for the ring and were a lot stronger then they had even given theirself credit for. This poem is just beautiful. I am looking forward to seeing more to read.

I love how you start out with almost a mini-musing and then flow into the poetry that illustrates the inner thought.
Re: Wandering with Boromir
I truly enjoyed this verse as it brought back to me the memories of standing guard somewhere in a forest in Bavaria.

Thank you all . . .
It's so great to know people acctually read what I write. This is so much better, to write because I want to, not for an assignment
