Cherished Moments

Post by daisy gold » Wed Jan 05, 2011 10:00 am

On Mount Doom Frodo couldn't recall the Shire , strawberries etc due to the Rings evil influence on him. How shocking to loose precious memories.
I think on his return home he would make a valient effort to hold dear many things. So I wrote this poem as his prayer of resolve.

Cherished Moments

I will live every day
As if it was my last.
And hold dear many moments,
Though they swiftly pass.
The seasons changing spirit,
The colours gleaming through
On each hill, field and woodland,
I will treasure each view.
~
I will cherish each day
Of my life at Bag End,
Birthdays, festivities
With family and friends.
Simple pleasures I’ll enjoy,
The kettle singing sweet,
Honey’d loaves dripping butter,
Cinnamon cakes to eat.
~
The loveliest scents
Of roses bathed in dew,
That curls round my casements,
Finding their way through.
Red juicy strawberries
Dipped in ivory cream,
Days blazed with summer,
All these I‘ll most esteem.
~

He beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise.

Cherished Moments

We can all take a lesson from that, Daisy. Even without the influence of an evil Ring, how often do we rush through the days, "getting on" with things and forgetting that each moment is life, and we'll never have it again, forgetting all those small precious moments.

With your permission, Daisy... I'd like to print it out for my wall. Lovely.

Thank you dear friends for your kind remarks. Although the poem is for Frodo there is alot of what I feel in it too. I am the family archivist. :computer: I seem to have a good memory for things, events in the deep past but for more recent times these are becoming sketchy. I do cherish every moment I spend with my dear old mother.
I feel I must start to look at life through Frodo's glasses , as it were. As you say DoK ..."each moment is life, and we'll never have it again"

RWW, please feel free to use the poem as you wish, my pleasure.

Bravo! Nicely done... I'm sure he shared it with Sam - and Sam with Merry and Pippin - and perhaps Sam with Rosie and the children.....

Thank you Tinidril and Agape. Sam and Rosie will no doubt cherish many special moments of their children lives.
