February Poetry

Post by yaralindi » Wed Feb 11, 2015 3:53 am

Since February is National Weddings Month as well as Creative Romance Month, I thought we could try our hands at writing romantic poetry based on romances in Arda. They can be from any age - Beren and Lúthien, Sam and Rosie, Aragorn and Arwen, etc. To make it fairly easy let's stick with a didactic cinquain form. For those that don't know the form, it has 5 lines and each line has a specific element.

Line 1: Title (noun) - 1 word
Line 2: Description - 2 words
Line 3: Action - 3 words
Line 4: Feeling (phrase) - 4 words
Line 5: Title (synonym for the title) - 1 word

It isn't nearly as complicated as the American cinquain made famous by Adelaide C.rapsey but if you want to try your hand at the more complicated form, please check out the various cinquains found on the net. It is a bit more complicated than I want to try, so I'll stick with the didactic.

I'll start.

February Poetry

I'm not sure if Gollum's love for the One Ring fits in but this is what popped into my mind:

Ring
My Precious
Stolen by hobbit
But hobbit is friend

Nice one, Dinelleth! The theme is about love and romance so I suppose, with a bit of stretch, Gollum and the One Ring fit. The cinquain is a good one regardless. Well done.
