Hallowe'en Poem

Post by Lothithil » Tue Oct 31, 2006 8:48 am

Here's a little something that happened to me this morning.
Happy Hallowe'en, y'all!

(((Fellowship)))
-Loth

Leather leaves applaud
The golden production of dawn
Spontaneous colours that change
Before the eye can turn away
Drawing from the endless pallet
Offered up by the sleepy trees

Moon scampers out of sight
Before the morning can peep
But the stars linger, aloof of the sun
And cast their frost upon the wilting grass

Mysteries clot in the shadows
Beneath the underpass
No daylight or man-made lamp
Can chase away that candy-fear

An outraged cat hisses on the fence
Startling me off the pavement
Setting to laughter a murder of crows
And the haughty rebuke of a tardy owl

This day is like no other
Though others may in its footsteps tread
The veil thins, the Others come
And reaching, they may touch us briefly
I feel their regard in the icy breath of the wind

Yes, this is really wonderful imagery and the originality of your word choices is noteworthy! I love it, Lothithil!
