TORN Update on Amazon LOTR

Post by FredO » Sun Jul 28, 2019 5:55 am

TORN had a little more info on the upcoming Amazon Prime LOTR series this morning:

Some I know and recognize others not so much. Still not sure I'm going to get Prime just to see this but it is interesting watching it develop.

Fredo, thanks for posting this.

I was hoping to hear more about the filming and actors during the summer
but am disappointed that so little is happening. Maybe Amazon is keeping their secrets close.

So pleased to see Tom Shippey is there helping keep the story close to Tolkien's work.
And John Howe's artwork.....great.

As for stories about the Second Age storyline...…… well I hope the writers keep to Tolkien's ethos and themes, eg redemption, death and immortality etc.
He beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise.

I share your disappointment about the lack of news. I am concerned about how they will develop the storyline too but I am "cautiously" optimistic. My optimism is based solely on the long-form they are choosing. By not being constrained to a series of movies maybe they will stick to the book more closely.
