He deserves this especially with his amazing career and for an added bonus his service during WWII.

Most deserving indeed. He is held in great esteem over this side of the pond as well. Sometimes you wonder why a pop star or mini-celeb has received one of these 'gongs' but Sir Christopher is certainly one of the greats.
