Hmmm. Is This a Trend, Perhaps?
This is a list of some of the actors I'm quite fond of... and they all have something in common... can you guess what it is?
Sean Biggerstaff
BRIAN COX
John Hannah
David McCallum
Tom Conti
David Tennant
BILLY BOYD
Dougray Scott
Ewan McGregor
Gerard Butler
James McAvoy
You're right They're all Scottish.
Suddenly some of the coolest actors on the planet are coming out of Scotland, for some reason.
I was in the mood for a "happy ending" light hearted comedy, and I watched EVER AFTER again. Dougray Scott is terrific in that. I had just seen James McAvoy in CHILDREN OF DUNE, and I'm always replaying PHANTOM OF THE OPERA with Gerard Butler. John Hannah made me sob out loud when he gave his moving tribute to his lover in FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL, and Sean Biggerstaff stole his scenes in HARRY POTTER.
We all love "our" Pippin, BILLY BOYD ( who is a year older than Gerard Butler !!!) and his song in LOTR was more than wonderful, we all agree. Brian Cox, IMHO was a fantastic Hannibal Lecter in MANHUNTER, and will always be that character for me.
(He also did the audio books for The Silmarrillion, and the Legend of Sigrid & Gudrun, which I haven't heard.) He may be in THE HOBBIT. I read a rumor that James McAvoy was up for a part as well. (I hope... I hope)
In any case... I'm wondering if this is some sort of a trend? ... By the way... you can add Sean Connery to the list... but If I had put him in, you would have guessed the answer right away.

I often tell my wife, "If I just had a scottish accent, I'd get all the girls." To which she replies, "You're right. But why would you want them?" To which I reply, "I mean hypothetically".
And are you familiar with Henry Ian Cusick? (Desmond on Lost). I love him. I just saw him play Darwin in a movie.

That hypothesis will get you into trouble EVERY time!
Just what I was hoping, Celedor, that folks would name ones I missed. I rented the first 3 seasons of LOST last year ( I don't watch TV ) and thought him excellent... Darwin is on my "SAVED" listing on netflix... now another reason to want to see it.

Well, some of us would have guessed anyway - myself, from this abbreviated list, headed up by my blue-eyed number 1 spy/medical examiner.
David McCallum
BILLY BOYD
Ewan McGregor
Gerard Butler
James McAvoy
But they're all wonderful actors, and it's no wonder that you adore their work.

White shores are calling... You and I will meet again.

David Tennant is cool! He plays the Doctor on Doctor Who,a british t.v. show which is awesome by the way.
Also heard he was up for Bilbo in The Hobbit
Billy Boyd is awesome too!

I'm probably one of the few here that has NOT seen David Tennant as Dr Who. Both he and The Show are quite popular here. You're going to fit right in...
Welcome, by the way! ( And as you can imagine there are MANY Billy Boyd fans, lurking around here as well.)

No, dear Hart (pun intended) you are not alone! Primula, our site's fearless leader, is a HUGE fan. Many, many others here, too. I can't wait for them to meet you... why not post a note in one of the forums, asking about Dr. Who, and see what happens! WOW!
Also... go to the forum that greets new people... folks will come out of the woodwork to make you feel welcome, and as I said before... you are.
