Re: L of the R, part 2
Seven companions we had: one we lost at Moria, the others we left at Parth Galen above Rauros
Assuming of course that capital P G is a person/object/place leads to either Parth Galen or Pinnath Gelin or possible Phial (of) Galadriel. However, since the 'of' would have been included the last one is extremely unlikely. Additionally, since Pinnath Gelin is a very rarely mentioned place in Southern Gondor (countable on about 4 pages), the likelyhood of it being used falls rapidly as well.
Logically, then the capital R must be related to the P G - which leads to Rauros.
A fellowship member who says something about "Parth Galen at/above/aside Rauros" after a quick index search reduces the pool to either Aragorn, Pippin or Frodo. After numerous passage readings to find comparable letter sequences it was there - LOTR, Book Four, Chapter IV - Of Herbs and Steamed Rabbits, page 643!
Did I spend a little too much time on this....??

I suspect that you spent neither too much time, nor too little, but precisely as much as you meant to.Laiquendi wrote:Did I spend a little too much time on this....??
You also happen to be correct. Frodo said those words to Faramir, of course.

Do I spy Old Forest and Tom Bombadill among the words?

I think I've got this right - the TB had me searching in the Treebeard chapter
He was immensely interested in everything: in the Black Riders, in Elrond, and Rivendell, in the Old Forest, and Tom Bombadil, in the Mines of Moria, and in Lothlórien and Galadriel
Edit: Just noticed its not the Old Forest or Tom Bombadil, so pretty sure now I'm not right!! lol
