LORE of the Ring 73 "whose line is it?

Post by suzie-sheelf » Sun Feb 06, 2011 7:59 pm

Welcome to Lore of the Ring # 73

The Official Rules are here, but the Tolkien Reader’s Digest Condensed Version is as follows:

* ANYONE can play. Just answer ANY of the questions below. Or all of them. Or none of them. As long as you send in an entry.

* An entry is worth one point. Each correct answer is good for another point. Each point counts for one chance to win the GRAND PRIZE DRAWING at the end of June.

* DO NOT post your answers on the board. That takes all the fun out of it for everyone else.

* DO email them to the Middle Earth Scribe (middleearthscribe@gmail.com). DO put “Contest Entry” on the subject line and your screen name in the email so that she awards your points to you and not to someone else at random. DO number your answers to correspond to the questions.

* The questions (and therefore the answers) may come from any part of the books (The Hobbit as well as the LOTR trilogy, including introductory material, appendices, maps, etc.). You may use other sources to help find the answers, but be careful about using the movies, as there are many incorrect answers there, waiting like a blizzard on Caradhras to ruin your plans.

* You have until midnight (your time) on MONDAY FEBRUARY 21st to send in your entry. In the event of a tie, the Middle Earth Scribe will send out 5 tie-breaker questions by email on Wednesday, the 23rd. The winner and Loremaster for the next round will be announced here on Monday the 28th.

* If you have any questions about the rules, check the link above or email the Middle Earth Scribe.

Enjoy……

WHOSE LINE IS IT?

1.Enough, enough! We are departing as quickly as we may!

2. Yet here we are- and nicely caught in the net.

3. What! You can’t tell which parts were mine and which were the Dunadan’s?

4 Well, I’m back.

5. Well here at last, dear friends on the Shores of the Sea comes the end of our fellowship in Middle-earth. Go in Peace!

6. I offered you my sword. I do not wish to be parted from you like this, Theoden King!

7. Keep your hoards and your secrets in the Accursed Years! Speed only we ask.

8. Hail and well met at last! I was sent from Rivendell to look for you.

9. It’s most unfair, instead of throwing him out, and clamping him in chains, Elrond goes and rewards him for his cheek!

10. Well, have a care! I do not feel too sure of this Elvish Lady and her purposes.

11. I have come! But I do not choose now to do what I came to do. I will not do this deed. The Ring is mine!

12. Yes,yes. All dead, all rotten. Elves and men and orcs. The dead marshes.

13. Almost felt you liked the forest! That’s good! That’s uncommonly kind of you!

14. I think this task is appointed for you, Frodo; and that if you do not find away, no one will.

15. Do not let your hearts be troubled, tonight you shall sleep in peace.

LORE of the Ring 73 "whose line is it?

Post by daughter_of_kings » Mon Feb 07, 2011 6:07 pm

The trouble with having read the books so many times (but apparently not enough times) is that all of these sound familiar, but I can't place all of them.

This calls for some scholarly treasure-hunting. :read:

word of warning.... when I was making this quiz, I realized that some of these phrases, were spoken by different people in the movies.
These phrases are from the books, not the movies.

I know some of these without looking, but some will need a little research. Pity. I'll have to spend time with the books. :read:
