LORE OF THE RING - Round 75! And the Winner is....

Post by tinidril » Mon Apr 04, 2011 1:22 pm

WELCOME one and all to Round 75 of the LORE OF THE RING contest!

Being that this is the first week of April, and will be my birthday, the Precious should be mine! But I have decided to share the fun :goofy:

I have classified this round as Medium-Easy, my source is The Hobbit, and this round is all about COLOR.

Those of you who have played before are already familiar with the rules of the game. However, whereas where there’s life there’s hope, and whereas so long as there is life on these boards, I’ll keep hoping for some newcomers to take up the game, here are the simple rules of the game:

:flower: ANYONE can play. Just answer ANY of the questions below. Or all of them. Or none of them. As long as you send in an entry.

:flower: An entry is worth one point. Each correct answer is good for another point. Whomever gets the most points in a round receives fame, glory, and the honor of being the Loremaster for the next round. If you want more than fame, glory, and the honor of being Loremaster, you should know that each point also counts for one chance to win the GRAND PRIZE DRAWING at the end of June.

:flower: DO NOT post your answers on the board. That takes the fun out of it for everyone.

:flower: DO email them to the Middle Earth Scribe (middleearthscribe@gmail.com). Put “Contest Entry” on the subject line and your screen name in the email so that she awards your points to you and not to someone else at random.

:flower: DO number your answers so that the Middle Earth Scribe knows which questions they go with. She may be wise and powerful, but she isn’t very good at reading minds.

:flower: The questions (and therefore the answers) may come from any part of the BOOKS (The Hobbit as well as the LOTR trilogy, including introductory material, appendices, maps, etc.). You may use other sources to help find the answers, but beware of the movies, for there are many incorrect answers lurking there. Also, as noted above, this is a HOBBIT round, which could be a valuable clue to finding the answers.

:flower: You have until midnight (your time) on Monday, April 18th to send in your entry. In the event of a tie, the Middle Earth Scribe will send out 5 tie-breaker questions by email on Wednesday, the 20th. The winner and Loremaster for the next round will be announced here on Monday the 25th.

:flower: If you have any questions about the rules, the full official version may be found at the Scrapbook, or you may email questions to the Middle Earth Scribe.

Continuing in The Hobbit, describe the colors associated with each of these characters as they are first introduced: (colors associated with Bilbo refer to when he began his adventure)

Because some characters have multiple answers, I advise you to copy/paste this list into your email then replace the underscores within the brackets with your color-name answers. It does not matter whether compound color names are hyphenated or not as long as the answer contains all the words describing the color (as in "light yellow" or "deep-orange"), words used must match what is found in The Hobbit.

1. Gandalf: [___] hat, [___] cloak, [___] scarf and [___] beard
2. Dwalin: [___] beard, [___] belt, [___] hood
3. Balin : [___] beard, [___] hood
4. Kili: [___] hood, [___] belt, [___] beard
5. Fili: [___] hood, [___] belt, [___] beard
6. Dori: [___] hood
7. Nori: [___] hood
8. Ori: [___] hood
9. Oin: [___] hood
10. Gloin: [___] hood
11. Bifur: [___] hood
12. Bofur: [___] hood
13. Bombur: [___] hood
14. Thorin: [___] hood with a long [___] tassle
15. Bilbo: [___] hood and [___] cloak

Good luck! :crossed: and have FUN! :yay: ~Tinidril

Mine are in too (and according to the Author's preference...)

BTW, there is a story which goes with those choices, including getting there and back again and arriving with Jools...but that is for another time...

..the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise.
