With The Hobbit now having premiered in lovely NZ, and opening in the US on 12/12/12, so much nostalgia!

And now, TOR.n is just adding to it, with their announcement of another Oscar party in February.

Anyone here planning to attend? I'd dearly love to go, but I don't see how I can scrape together the money for such an unexpected journey.

I also would love to go, but since I changed jobs since the LOTR parties I don't think I can swing it financially either. However, I think I can swing the Hobbit conference the next weekend in Indiana!

Gladly! It's at Valparaiso University in Indiana. I haven't made my reservation yet but I plan to before the end of the year.

The conference is March 1-3. It's a scholarly conference, but includes two concerts and an art exhibit. The LOTR conference at Marquette was terrific, and I think this one will be too.

I sent it to TORN months ago but they never published anything about it.

I'll be otherwise engaged, and maybe even hairless by February. Don't think I'll be going either.

Guess I'll live it through any from our board that gets the chance to go.

And regarding the Hobbit conference, it says something on the web site about possible cancellation but someone from Valpo assured me it is definitely going ahead.
