Far Above Me – A Last Elf Poem

Far above me in the black night sky
A multitude of stars drifted by

But I alone watched this pageant pass
“None now remain,” moaned the tall green grass

“Except for one,” I softly replied
Then slowly I let out a long sigh

While the grass bobbed like waves around me
Further reminding me of the sea

And of my kindred’s sailing from here
Once again my sad eyes fill with tears

So I can’t see the stars drifting by
Far above me in the black night sky.

*sniffle*

Will the Last Elf ever be able to go over sea? Why does he still remain?

I am happy to see your Last Elf poems again -- sorry I have been remiss in keeping up with you, my dear!

I love this part the most:
But I alone watched this pageant pass
“None now remain,” moaned the tall green grass
:( It's so sad. Lovely imagery, Din, and wonderful poem!

Last Elf and the sea...txt

Post by Dínelleth » Fri Aug 05, 2005 10:09 am

Yes Last Elf will eventually sail and there is a surprising new reason for his staying behind besides not wanting to leave the woods he loves. Hopefully I will get this down in story form soon. And there's no need to apologize for not keeping up (((((Linaewen)))))! I've had a hard time myself in keeping up with my Muse since I can only write so fast! I can hear Bilbo saying "You have been very productive..."

Here you go (((((Queenie)))))! Do you think I should put a Kleenex warning on my Last Elf poems?
