A couple drabbles - 1)Aragorn 2) Gimli/Legolas

Behind Enemy Lines – Aragorn in Harad

“Hmmm.” He held the creature in his hand. Never had he seen such an animal. Was it even an animal? He had seen it moving, out of the corner of his eye, waddling across the desert sands. Bending to touch it, he was greatly surprised. It rolled into a little ball, fitting comfortably in his hand. There was an aura of peace about it. He spoke to it in Elvish, and, lo and behold, it had unwound itself, looking into his face. He couldn’t help but smile. Intelligent eyes looked back at him. At last, he had found a friend!

Rescue Unwanted

“Stop it! Leave me be! Take your hands off of me!” the Dwarf howled in anger. If it were a different time, a different place, I might have laughed. But tears were still coursing down my face. I had watched Haldir die. I could not - I would not lose another!

I had to save him. He would fight to the death – his own. Another Elf, one I did not know, took hold of his other arm. No one Elf could wrestle this Son of Aulë. ‘No Elf would want to!’ I thought miserably. ‘I have changed – for the better?’

1. It's amazing how a friend can be found in the most unexpected places.

2. It was a good thing indeed that Gimli had Legolas around for while none can say that the dwarf didn't have courage he hadn't learned that there were times when flight was better then might.

Oh Din - you said that so rightly. Like smiting his axe into the hard stone of Moria. Persevering until the end. But this time, if not for Legolas, it would have truly been his end.

Thank you, thank you!

Wouldn't it be so much fun to see that little creature - I would love to see what Aragorn was about in Harad. You know he was there - he seemed to go everywhere in ME.

And all thanks go to DIN who shamed me into writing drabbles. I can't thank her enough. They are SUCH fun!!!

Great drabbles, (((Agape)))! I hope whatever it is that Aragorn found is actually friendly. Hmmm, he might want to actually put it down.

I always crack up at this scene when Gimli is being carried off the field of battle, I never thought it might be because Legolas didn't want to have to watch another one of his friends die if he could help it!

Sil
