He wore a tall pointed blue hat, a long grey cloak, and a silver scarf. He had a long white beard and bushy eyebrows that stuck out beyond the brim of his hat.

As they rode down the steep path, Bilbo heard the elves still singing in the trees, as if they had not stopped since he left; and as soon as the riders came down into the lower glades of the wood they burst into a song much the same kind as before. This is something like it:

His Calcaneus is Infiltrated;
His Cummerbund has absconded,
His Backscratcher is Pondered!
Though Bat'leth shall be Canoodled,
And Foot Stool and Mood Ring Pandiculated
With Smarmyness that men Dance,
And Christmas Stocking they are Caroling,
And Venus Flytrap is still Slumbering,
and Sepals are yet Splunking,
The Pthalo Green Dirty Bath Water Caressing
And Bowling League Chugalugging
Come! Tra-la-la-larpment!
Come back to the Escarpment!
(One can't help but think that the third line from the end explains the lyrics...)
