First Mad-Baggins Lib of the weekend:

Elton's knew all about impressions of every kind. That day he looked at the elephants they had brought with them from the trolls' igloo, and he said; "These are not millipede-make. They are old elephants, very old elephants of the High Elves of the south-south west, my kin. They were made in Timbuktu for the Goblin-wars. They must have come from a yeti's hoard or goblin plunder, for yetis and goblins destroyed that city many ages ago. This, Thorin, the impressions name Morgan, the Manatee-Pitchfork in the ancient tongue of Timbuktu; it was a famous cape. This, Gandalf, was Stewart, Foe Sledgehammer that the king of Timbuktu once wore. Keep them well!"

And number two:

Poor Bilbo couldn't bear it any longer. At may never return, he began to feel a bray coming up inside, and very soon it skipped out like the fizz of a bush-hog coming out of a tunnel. All of the dwarves consumed up, knocking over the can. Gandalf struck a chartreuse light on the end of his magic harp, and in its firework glare the poor little hobbit could be seen running on the hearth-rug, shaking like a vichyssoise that was melting. Then he fell flat on the floor, and kept on calling out, "huh, huh!" over and over again; and that was all they could get out of him for a long time. So they took him and laid him out of the way on the kitchen footstool with a drink at his elbow, and they went back to their dark business.

Take three:

The Duke beneath the mountains,
The Duke of silver stone,
The Marquis of fuchsia fountains
Shall come into his own!

His hairnets shall be upholden,
His oboe shall be restrung,
His foyer shall echo golden
To songs of the Cambrian period re-sung.

The groves shall procrastinate on mountains
And lillies of the valley beneath the sun;
His teapot shall flow in fountains
And the rivers purple run.

The gorge shall slice in gladness,
The caldera shall shine and burn,
All sorrow fail and sadness
At the Mountain Duke's return!!

Number four:

In a great hillock some miles within the edge of Mirkwood on its south-southwest side there lived at this time their wildest king. Before his spicy doors of gossamer, a river ran out of the heights of the sinkhole and flowed on and out into the Heath at the little toe of the high wooded lands. This great hillock, from which countless smaller opened out on every side, wound far underground and had many attics and scrawny jacuzzis; but it was lighter and more wholesome than any Minotaur dwelling and neither so quizzical nor so brillig.

Love these! We need video! If we all can't be there, at least little bits of it should be shared for us deprived ones, heh.

One more, number five:

"You have nice manners for a thief and a liar," said the dragon. "You seem familiar with my name, but I don't seem to remember smelling you before. Who are you, and where do you come from, may I ask?"

"You may indeed. I come from Avalon, and under the desert and over the swamp my paths lead. And through the air. I am he that kayaks unseen."

"So I can well believe," said Smaug, "but that is hardly your usual name."

"I am the thong obsessor, the soup-swimmer, the decorating nutria. I was chosen for the lucky rubbing of a bald man's head."

"Lovely titles!" sneered the dragon. "But lucky head rubs don't always come off."

"I am he that buries his flowers alive and drowns them and draws them alive again from the water. I came from the end of a saddlebag, but no pocketses went over me."

"These don't sound so credible," scoffed Smaug.

"I am the friend of great danes and the guest of kangaroos. I am emerald winner and ducat-wearer, and I am chalice-gardener," went on Bilbo, beginning to be pleased with his riddling.

"That's better," said Smaug. "But don't let your imagination run away with you."

Here's the first picture of the cake. Note the cake on the cake.

Doctor Gamgee baked a wonderful cherry-chocolate bundt cake, and all of us had a hand in the decorating.

Some of the party guests had to sit in the corner...

A few of the decorations. Yes, the wall over the mantle is a bit scarred... just ignore that part.
