Open letter to Primula and the Fellowship - my resignation

Dear Fellowship, I am resigning as admin, and I have just sent my resignation letter to Prim. I am posting it here as an open letter to the Fellowship, so that you will all know what is going on, and so that I can offer my apologies to all of you. Dear Prim, When we had our last conversation - 2 mo...

Re: Hunting for a new home for the Fellowship

Hello again Everyone, I do apologize most heartily to everyone. I'm letting you down. I should have found us a temporary home by now and strong-armed Firiel into helping to fix the issues here. I haven't done that, not because I don't want to, but because my RW life hasn't left me any time for it. ...

Re: Hunting for a new home for the Fellowship

Cost per se is not so much the issue. It's more that there are so few now to share the burden. Time was, when Prim would put out the call for sponsorships, if you didn't answer in the first day you were too late. Now we're having to double up or triple up to get the full year sponsored. Yar, it's w...

Re: Hunting for a new home for the Fellowship

Just popping in to say... please don't give up on me yet... at least not entirely. My RW life has gotten entirely out of hand, and I haven't had any more time to explore options... or even really be here. I haven't given up on the idea of finding us a new home that doesn't have the glitches this on...

Tolkien fan edits The Hobbit

Firiel has lost her access to the board... Treble is working on it, I hear, so we hope to have her back soon... but in the meantime, she asked me to post this. A Tolkien fan has posted that he has edited The Hobbit trilogy down to a single, 4-hour movie . (Admin warning: I read most of his post and...

It's nice to see you here again, Jimbo! :hi:

Admin note: I moved your post to this forum as it's a more appropriate place and maybe more folks will see it.

Re: Hunting for a new home for the Fellowship

Well, this sudden slew of replies from folks we haven't heard from in ages is AWESOME! :hi: :D Y'all need to come back more often! Facebook seems to be a love-it-or-hate-it option. Quite a few of you have replied that FB is your first option, but other folks (here as well as in private conversation...

Re: Hunting for a new home for the Fellowship

I don't know , but I'm pretty sure that Decipher was free, back in the days when the Fellowship was hosted there. A big part of the reason we left was that they decided to have ads and it slowed things down to a crawl for folks that don't have high speed internet. I will look into Proboards and Zet...

Re: Hunting for a new home for the Fellowship

Ashlyn is having login troubles, but texted me that she votes for FaceBook or Livejournal. Blogger is a distant third for her.

Hunting for a new home for the Fellowship

It's a thing that happens in the lifetime of many families... when all the kids have left home, and the big old house starts to sound empty, echoey (totally a word) and rattly, so the parents decide it's time to move to a smaller, cozier, and less expensive, home. So, too, the time has come for our...

Professor Tolkien reads

Thanks for the link, SE. :-)

And Daisy Gold, thanks for mentioning the BBC dvd... I'll have to go looking for that one (I hope it's still available).

New movie with Sir Ian McKellen

Looks interesting. I'm not generally inclined toward "artsy", but who can resist McKellen and Hopkins? I've also seen ads for 'Mr. Holmes' starring Sir Ian as a much older Sherlock... I didn't see previews before it came to theaters, if it even did in this area... but it's out or coming out on pay-...
