Hello Elves, Hobbits, Wizards and All!
Hi Everybody,
I am honoured and pleased and excited to be back. I've been a member for almost three years now but somehow could never find the time to be an active member. Now I have time on my hands and I hope I can finally be a part of this wonderful family. As for myself, I am just a plain, simple old thing with an enormous appetite for good books. I have been an ardent fan of Tolkien ever since I saw the FOTR movie. I've read LOTR four times, The Hobbit and The Silmarillion (partly). Though I saw the movie first I like his books better so you can't imagine how happy I am to finally have the time to read his books again and to be a member of his worthy fanclub. I can't wait to get to know you all.

Sing now, ye people of the Tower of Anor,
for the realm of Sauron is ended for ever.....
....and your king has passed through,
and he is victorious
for the realm of Sauron is ended for ever.....
....and your king has passed through,
and he is victorious

Nice to meet you! I came to the books through a film version also, but way back when (the animated LOTR) and have now read them many times. I'm still tackling the Sil in fits and starts. Fascinating stuff, but it takes a lot of concentration (for me, anyway.)

Happy to have you back home for a while! Take off your shoes, put on your slippers and partake in some mighty good conversation!
I read The Hobbit in 9th grade, but remembered little other than Bilbo's name. I re-read the book and devoured the LOTR series after seeing the movies. I have read them all numerous times and am re-reading The Hobbit again because it will now be included in future lore quizzes (check them out at Word Games and join in!) and I need to bone up! I have read the Sil 3 1/2 times (was distracted the 4th attempt!). Primmy is right- it really DOES take a lot of concentration and several trips to the index at the back of the book to keep track of what you're reading! Even so, it is well worth the effort and explains a lot of what you read in LOTR.
Again- it is great to see you around again!!

..the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise.

This is really an awesome place. Hats off to all of you!!
Alfirin your webpage is great. All the best! I hope your album is a success . I was happy to know that the cast will be the same in The Hobbit. The LOTR cast is quiet firmly fixed in my mind I guess. I simply can't imagine anyone other than Sir Ian McKellen playing Gandalf for instance.
I didn't know The Hobbit was also included in the lore quizzes now. I really used to love them. Guess its time to catch up on my reading!

Hi! Welcome back... I've only been here 5 months today, so we haven't met before... but this is a great place, for friendship, and interesting conversation about the best movies... and especially books... ever. LOTR

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who can be "missing in action."

Welcome Anduril (the name of one of our cars ). Glad to have you back, and look forward to getting to know you.
If you can find the birthday thread, be sure to add your birthday, and if you can't, just pop it in here and we'll be sure to help you celebrate.
There's nothing we like more that a good celebration.

There was also a Strange Elf clad in green and brown, Legolas,..... (FOTR, The council of Elrond)
