About Strange Elf - July 22nd 2014

Post by Strange Elf » Tue Jul 22, 2014 6:45 pm

Today I started an online Photography course, and I'm really excited about it.

I've been a birdwatcher for ever and a day (since I was 21), and now I want to try my hand at taking pictures of brids.

Take your camera everywhere, the lecturer says, so I took it walking this morning.

For the second week running, I sat by the (ever dwindling) stream up one of our canyons, and read LOTR for a couple of hours.

It was wonderful, the dappled sunshine all around, listening to nothing but the birds and the gurgling stream, while reading my favourite book.

This little critter (Great Basin Fence Lizard) came visiting while I was up there.

What a great new brain-work-out! Creativity, timing and artistic viewing of the world. What could be better?!? Love it!

So did you read to the little guy? Maybe he's a fan, too. :-)

No, he wasn't in my special reading spot.

I do read to the birds and the trees (everyone an Aspen). I like to think they are Ents.

I did have an encounter with a Skunk the other week. No time for pictures though.

One of my friends posted about dragons, today. Reading your post, I rather thought perhaps skunks might not be related, however distantly, to dragons.

Wouldn't a better moniker for a skunk be Ancalagon the Black (the 2nd)?

I confess to feeling a little protective toward my Skink, and therefore would not wish to name him after the baddest Dragon to fly over Middle Earth. But if I did, I'd call him Ancalagon the Black and White. HA!
