LOTR at AlamoDrafthouse, Austin
I've been wanting to do this for years, and my mother just said she'll spring for the tickets, so I'm in! They are running the EE's of FOTR and TT, and the theatrical ROTK and serving 7 meals throughout. Don't suppose anyone else might be going?

It is Sunday, November 29, starts at 10:30 am. Tickets are (ouch!) $100 each. They go on sale at noon today (Nov. 3)

Does the $100 include the 7 meals? or is that on top of the admission?

The $100 is for all 7 meals. An extra $35 gets you a selection of drinks (mostly alcoholic) paired with the meals. The menu is available online if you Google Alamo Drafthouse and search for the Austin Ritz location, then the LOTR showing. Considering it's 3 movies and 7 meals (though some of the 'meals' are really more like elaborate 'snacks') it's actually an OK price.

Oh, I wish. we have some catching up to do financially so it is out of the question for us. We are also pondering a major undertaking in the SCA, so need to conserve our resources.

If it just wasn't so far to drive! *sigh*
Though, I have to admit, that that'd be a good project for a moot! I'd be up for helping with the 7 meals!

Thinking about it. Not sure yet, though.

Don't think too long. Tickets sell out pretty quickly.

Oh, Firiel, come! I'm so hoping someone else does! I know the tics are steep though. But me and mom will be driving up that morning, we'd be glad to pick you up so you at least don't have to park!

Don't suppose you could swing up a little further north and pick me up? Okay.....maybe more than a LITTLE further north...if you hit the Canadian border, you've gone about 100 miles too far! Oh, well, I shall be with you in spirit! (my spirit needs no ride!!)

Re: LOTR at AlamoDrafthouse, Austin
Well, I skipped breakfast and lunch today cause I'm still stuffed! Somehow I didn't really realize that 7 meals in 11 hours comes to a plateful every 1.5 to 2 hours! That's a lot of food! And it was good, too. And what a crowd! You know it's 'hardcore' fans when they all paid that much to be there. I must admit, that was actually my first marathon viewing, and though I loved every minute of it it was exhausting. This was a really neat thing to attend, and I'm glad I had the chance to do it. Apparently it sold out so quickly this year, that they've scheduled a second one for 3 weeks from now!

Glad you enjoyed the event! I am looking forward to my own EE marathon at the home of a friend on December 7th. She has seen the movies, albeit years ago, but has never seen the EE's, so she's in for a treat! Only three meals planned, but as a hobbit, I can assure you there will be PLENTY of SNACKS!!!!

I'm so glad you had fun! Wish I could have been there, but I was making Stollen for Christmas...perhaps next time.
