A portion of the larger ALEP (A Long Expected Party) group that gathers every 3 years at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill Kentucky, got together again this year for the second Hobbit movie.
A few arrived early on Thursday, with a small dinner party and a special guest
The group grew in size Friday, a goodly portion attended an afternoon tea in the Trustees Dining Room, then it was time to get ready for a 7:15 viewing of DOS.
Here we all are just before showtime
After returning to the Village, we enjoyed a pot luck feast and "Secret Smaug" gift exchange.
Saturday's agenda was an unanounced visit to a local Denny's for lunch
Then on to Joseph-Beth Bookstore for a Hobbit presention for the kids and their parents:
Saturday wrapped up with an excellent farewell dinner back in the dining room at the Trustees Building:
Sunday morning was filled with many hugs and sad farewells, but also happy anticipation of September 2014, "A Long Expected Party 3 ... And the Road Goes Ever On"

This day does not belong to one man but to all. Let us together rebuild this world,
That we may share in the days of peace.
That we may share in the days of peace.

And what TolmanJr didn't show, was that just on the other side of Santa was yours truly!
He wore a tall pointed blue hat, a long grey cloak, and a silver scarf. He had a long white beard and bushy eyebrows that stuck out beyond the brim of his hat.

Wow! Thanks for sharing the pics!
..the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise.

Tolman, I got much worse then a little better and am back to a little worse again. That's what I get for trying to travel slightly sick.

I will take it. I will take it. I will take the Ring to Mordor, though I do not know the way. ~ Frodo Baggins

These are just great! I'm quite impressed with some of those costumes, these guys are serious cosplayers - wow!
No matter what opinions come of the films themselves, the Hobbit is making wonderful opportunities for the fans to hang with one another in full-fledged fannishness.
